Legal Sex
The college celebrates individuality and is committed to fairness, inclusion and respect for all. The college is required by law to record sex as only either female or male. We recognise that this basic information is limited and might not accurately reflect your gender identity, you will have the opportunity to complete a questionnaire during induction based around the 9 protected characteristics, where you can tell us more about you. Changes to legal sex can be requested via a ‘Change of Personal Details Form’ that is available from any Student Reception or with any Student Administration Team across the college. You can also discuss with your tutor / coaching tutor if you feel more comfortable. Any change of recorded legal sex will require some form of evidence such as Passport, Driving License, college staff should not ask to see the Gender Recognition Certificate (however may accept it as evidence if the student chooses to share it). This can be done in person with your Student Admin Team or at any Student Reception Admin across the college either at enrolment or at a later date throughout the academic year.

You only have to disclose convictions where these are not spent under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. A conviction becomes spent after any period of sentence has been completed. A prison sentence of four years or more will never be spent.
If you are applying for a course which will involve working with children (under 18) or vulnerable adults then you will have to declare all convictions including cautions and reprimands. These activities are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974
Any failure to disclose criminal convictions may result in you being removed from your course.
g review of your disclosure. You may be required to come in for an interview to discuss your disclosure further.
The length of time it takes to become spent is defined by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and depends on the sentence or disposal made by the court following the conviction. Until that period has passed, the conviction is considered 'unspent' and you must tick the box. Further convictions can impact when other convictions become spent. Sentences of over four years in prison cannot become spent. Most cautions, reprimands and final warnings become spent immediately, so will not normally be 'unspent'. For more information on offences and rehabilitation periods, visit https://www.gov.uk/guidance/rehabilitation-periods Why do we collect this? We are required by law to undertake background checks for courses where learners are involved with young people or vulnerable adults. For certain courses, additional information will also be required before we are able to accept you to the course. As an equal opportunities educational organisation, Inspire Education Group is committed to delivery of a learning environment free from prejudice and unlawful discrimination, and that includes on the grounds of criminal convictions.
Please note that failing to complete this section or providing false information may lead to your application/ enrolment being withdrawn.
